Global Settings

Global Settings contains app preferences that remain in effect when you change Projects. These settings are not written into prose or Story cards. Open them from Function > Settings.

Language

Choose the interface language under Language. A new Scroll installation starts in English. The interface changes immediately and keeps your choice on this device.

Available languages are English, 简体中文, 繁體中文, 日本語, 한국어, Deutsch, Français, and Español. This preference changes Scroll's interface only. It does not translate Project content or change the language recorded for a document.

Save

  • Auto Save saves modified documents automatically.
  • Save interval can be 15, 30, 60, or 120 seconds.
  • To save manually, press Cmd + S on macOS or Ctrl + S on Windows and Linux. When no document is selected, Save attempts to save all modified documents in the current Project.

Auto Save writes to local files. It is not cloud synchronization or version backup. Before closing a Project, installing an update, or opening the same source in another app, confirm that Scroll no longer shows Unsaved.

Export Location

Export Location stores a preferred directory. Enter a path or use Choose export location.

The current version saves and displays this preference, but some export flows still open a system save dialog without a preset location. This setting does not move the current Project or change where its content is stored.

Trash

Cleanup controls when Project Trash is cleaned:

  • Manual only keeps items until you empty Trash; or
  • 7, 30, or 90 days removes items that have reached the selected age when the Project opens.

Empty Trash Now applies to the currently open Project and asks for confirmation twice. Permanently deleted items cannot be restored from Scroll's Trash. Review its contents and confirm an external backup first.

Global Unit

Choose mm, inch, or px. The current version stores and displays this preference but does not convert or rewrite measurements in prose. Check the unit displayed by each feature that uses measurements.

Appearance

Theme controls the Scroll interface. Current choices include Catalpas Atelier, Light, Dark, System, Typewriter, Cyberpunk, Vaporwave, Mint, Rose, and Sky.

Themes do not change Markdown content or determine Scribe typesetting and export appearance.

Data Export & Import

This section currently shows Include settings, Export Backup, and Import Backup, but the backup actions are unavailable. Do not treat them as Project backup controls. Continue using the file system, version management, or another trusted local backup method.

Where settings apply

Language, saving, and theme preferences apply after you change them and remain on this device. Export Location and Global Unit currently store preferences. None of these settings belongs to an individual Project.

To configure a saved Story view, see View settings. For plans and update frequency, see Account and updates.
