Project management
In Scribe, a project holds all the manuscripts, images and settings for one book or work. This page covers project-level actions; most of them start at the top of the left sidebar and in the File menu.
Create & open a project
- Use New/open project folder in the sidebar's Project header, or File > New Project / Open Project.
- Desktop: a project maps to a project folder on disk. You can reveal it in your file manager or switch to a different folder.
- Web: use the dropdown in the project header to switch between existing projects.
Rename a project
Rename the current Project from the Project header. This changes the name shown in Scribe; it does not rename the folder on disk.
Delete a project
- Web: delete a project directly from the project dropdown.
- Desktop: there is no "Delete project" button — simply remove the project folder from the file system.
warning
Deletion can't be undone. Back up first.
Back up
There are two ways to back up:
- Export project as ZIP — Export project as ZIP in the
sidebar action bar packages the project's documents, images and settings into
a single
.zip. Restore it later with File > Import Project…. - Export global settings backup — from Global settings, export cross-project system settings as a ZIP backup. During export, choose settings only or settings plus user library items. This backup does not include Project files, and custom fonts must be added again.
tip
Keep an independent Project backup before a major revision or app update.
