Plans & features

Scribe uses Free, Plus, and Pro plans. The plan shown in Scribe determines which editing, export, and advanced publishing tools are available.

To review or change a plan, sign in to Account Billing. If Scribe and Scroll are both part of your workflow, also review Writing Suite. For how plans appear across the website and both apps, see Plans & Access.

Free

Free supports drafting, revising, previewing, and image sharing. It includes:

  • the Markdown editor and local Project management;
  • Image, E-book, and Print preview;
  • Inline and Full-page images;
  • horizontal and CJK vertical typesetting;
  • built-in Master Pages and basic built-in Appearance choices;
  • paged and long-image export.

Free image exports include the Scribe brand watermark.

Plus

Plus adds common handoff and digital publishing formats:

  • EPUB 3 export with an optional E-book Cover;
  • Word (.docx) export;
  • grayscale and RGB PDF export;
  • additional book and publishing information fields;
  • the option to turn off the Scribe brand watermark.

Choose Plus when you need EPUB, Word, or standard PDF files but do not need custom print-production and advanced content tools.

Pro

Pro adds print-production, reusable design, and advanced content tools:

  • CMYK and CMYK + ICC PDF export;
  • custom Master Pages for paper, margins, binding, typography, zones, and bleed;
  • Page Templates for reusable document content;
  • editable Appearance styles, Image Backgrounds, and custom font import;
  • Bibliography, LaTeX math, and Ruby annotations;
  • custom watermark content.

Check a print provider's current specification before submitting a PDF.

Change the plan shown in Scribe

  1. At the bottom of Scribe's left sidebar, open Account.
  2. Choose Manage, or open Account Billing directly.
  3. Review the Scribe or Writing Suite plan and complete the requested steps.
  4. Return to Scribe, open Account, and choose Refresh subscription.

Changing plans does not delete local Project folders. If the current plan does not include a tool, the corresponding editing or export action becomes unavailable; the local Project remains available. Back up important Projects before making subscription or application changes.
