Watermark
Scribe adds a small watermark to image and PDF exports. The watermark's behaviour depends on your plan:

The watermark applies to image and PDF exports. For EPUB it takes the form of an attribution line in the metadata rather than a visible mark.
What the watermark looks like
On image exports, the brand watermark is a small "Made with Catalpas Atelier Scribe" mark, at low opacity so it does not distract from the content.
On PDF exports, the brand watermark appears on every page.
Toggling the watermark (Plus)
The watermark control sits on the preview toolbar, next to the export button. Click it to switch the watermark on or off, then export. The state is remembered between sessions, and there is a separate toggle for image, print, and EPUB output.
On the Free plan the brand watermark is forced on, and clicking the control prompts you to upgrade.
DIY Watermark (Pro)
Open Advanced > DIY Watermark in the left sidebar. You can also open the watermark picker in the preview toolbar and choose Manage watermarks…. Each watermark group lets you set:
- Text — a single line, with font, size, and colour.
- Layout — a single mark or a tiled pattern.
- Position — top, center, or footer.
- Orientation — horizontal or diagonal.
- Opacity.
- Use for — image export, print export, or EPUB book information.
Saved watermarks are organised as built-in (read-only, clone to edit), global (reused across projects), and project groups.
Watermarking ARCs
If you send ARCs (Advance Review Copies), set the custom watermark text to the wording you want for that review round. Before exporting, check the wording, position, and intended output.
What the watermark is not
The watermark is a visible notice, not an access-control feature. It may be cropped or covered, so do not rely on it to prevent a file from being copied or shared.
