Manage works, manuscript versions, and approved sources
The Works workspace answers two questions: what works does this Project contain, and which manuscript version is the approved source? Works, version registration, delivery profiles, preview, and readiness are included with Free. Adding a delivery confirmation to the history requires Plus or Pro and does not copy or transfer manuscript files.
1. Complete Project information
Enter the Project name, primary language, authors, series, and summary. These fields describe the Project as a whole; do not replace them with a temporary chapter title.
2. Create a work
Add a work, enter its display title, and choose a stable work slug. The slug helps Scroll and Scribe identify the work. Do not change it whenever the display title changes.
3. Register a manuscript version
- Choose a stable source folder for the prose.
- Enter a clear version label.
- Check chapter count, order, word count, and unfinished markers.
- Select Set final only after the version is verified, making it the approved manuscript source.
Registering a version does not copy or freeze the prose. If you continue editing the source files, review the version again before delivery.
4. Create a Publish Version
Choose the approved manuscript version and source folder, then add a working or public version label. A Publish Version describes the publication source; it does not perform page design, pagination, or export.
5. Verify and back up
- Open the first and last chapter from Works and confirm their paths.
- Confirm that the work opens without an error.
- Save every document and back up the complete Project before delivery.
If Works cannot save or displays an error, back up the complete Project and follow the message in Scroll or contact Support. Do not edit Scroll's Project-management information directly.
When the manuscript is ready for typesetting, continue to Prepare a manuscript for Scribe.
