Installation help
Scribe and Scroll do not always provide the same operating-system builds. Check the current product and platform options on the official Download page before following the relevant guide.
Before installing
- Download only from
catalpasatelier.com. - Confirm the product, operating system, and processor before opening the file.
- Save and back up existing Projects before updating or returning to an older version.
- Do not use an installer for another product or operating system.
Common first-launch problems
macOS blocks the app
Confirm that the installer came from the official Download page. Follow the message in System Settings > Privacy & Security only when the product name and downloaded file are correct. Do not permanently disable macOS security settings.
Windows shows a security warning
Windows may ask you to confirm an app downloaded from the internet. Check the product name and official source before continuing. If the publisher or file shown by Windows is not what you expect, stop and download the installer again from the official page.
A Linux AppImage does not start
Use the AppImage only when it is offered for the selected product. Make it executable with chmod +x <filename>.AppImage. On Ubuntu 24.04, the package may also require libfuse2; follow your distribution's package guidance.
The app closes immediately or shows a blank window
Check that the operating system meets the minimum version shown on the Download page and install current system updates. Restart the computer and try the latest installer again. If the problem remains, contact support with the complete error message.
Grayscale or CMYK PDF export is unavailable in Scribe
These Scribe export modes require Ghostscript. Install it and restart Scribe; see Install Ghostscript. RGB PDF export does not require Ghostscript.
Updates
Check for updates from the app's Help menu when that option is available. Some platforms or version changes require the full installer from the Download page. Save and back up the Project before updating.
