References stores research material, source records, and information used by prose citations.

List and details​

The list on the left shows reference cards and filters. The main details area previews, opens, and edits supported material. During import, Scroll copies the file into a Project-managed location and creates a reference card; it does not move the external original.

Selecting the file path opens the managed copy inside the Project, not the original file. Use Open card to open the reference card itself.

Create and filter references​

You can:

  • create a text reference;
  • import a supported file;
  • search titles, paths, Tags, cite keys, and other reference metadata;
  • filter by Tag, reference Type, and Kind; and
  • sort the list and edit details.

There is currently no separate filter for the original external path.

Features by plan​

  • Free: create, import, browse, filter, and edit core reference cards.
  • Plus and Pro: add or remove ordinary links between prose or cards and reference material.
  • Pro: edit bibliographies, citations, and references blocks.

Importing material does not create a citation automatically. See Collect research, add citations, and search for the complete workflow.

Delete and back up​

Delete actions affect a card or managed copy inside the Project. See Data safety, Trash, and recovery before removing material or moving the Project.
