Sign in to Scribe and Scroll
The official website, Scribe, and Scroll use the same Catalpas Atelier account, but you sign in to each one separately. Being signed in on the website or in one app does not sign you in to the other app.
The same account can use Scribe and Scroll at the same time. After purchasing Writing Suite, you do not need to alternate by signing out of one app.
Before signing in
- Create an account on the official website and verify its email address.
- Confirm that the account has a password.
- Install the apps you need from Downloads.
- Stay connected to the internet for the first sign-in.
If you have used only Sign in with Google on the website, open Account Settings and choose Set password. A desktop app cannot use the Google sign-in already open in the browser.
Sign in to Scribe
- Open Scribe. The sign-in screen appears when no account is signed in.
- Enter the Catalpas Atelier account email address and password.
- Select Sign In.
- If Scribe asks for a security check, complete it in the browser, return to Scribe, and try again.
- Open Account and confirm the email address and Current plan.
- After a recent purchase or plan change, select Refresh subscription.
For Scribe-specific details, see Sign in to Scribe.
Sign in to Scroll
- Open Scroll.
- Enter the same account email address and password on the sign-in screen.
- Select Sign In.
- If Scroll asks for a web security check, complete it in the browser, return to Scroll, and try again.
- Open Function > Account.
- Confirm the email address and Current plan. After a recent purchase or plan change, select Refresh plan.
Scroll Free also requires sign-in. Free is the basic plan available to a verified account, not an anonymous mode.
Why sign-in is separate
- Signing in on the website does not sign in to a desktop app.
- Signing in to Scribe does not sign in to Scroll, and vice versa.
- Selecting Sign Out in Scribe does not sign out of Scroll.
- Refreshing the plan in one app does not refresh the other.
Sign in to the same app on another device
When you sign in to the same app on another device, it may say that the app is already signed in elsewhere. Before continuing:
- Return to the first device.
- Save every modified Project and document.
- Wait for saving to finish.
- Continue the sign-in on the new device.
This affects only that app. It does not sign out the other Catalpas Atelier app or transfer local Projects to the new device.
Refresh both apps after purchasing Writing Suite
- Open Account Overview and confirm the plans shown for Writing Suite, Scribe, and Scroll.
- In Scribe, open Account and select Refresh subscription.
- In Scroll, open Function > Account and select Refresh plan.
- Confirm that both apps show Plus or both show Pro.
- If the change is scheduled for a later date, refresh again after that date.
Refreshing only one app does not update the other.
Temporary offline use
After an app confirms a paid plan online, paid features can remain available during a temporary network interruption for up to 24 hours. If they become unavailable, reconnect and refresh the plan in that app.
Going offline, signing out, canceling, or moving to a lower plan does not delete local Projects. Existing content remains, although actions that require Plus or Pro may be unavailable.
Sign out
Open Account in Scribe or Scroll and select Sign Out or Sign out, as shown in that app. The app attempts to save modified work first. If saving fails, it displays a message and keeps the account signed in so the changes are not lost.
After signing out:
- the other app and official website are unaffected;
- local Project folders are not deleted; and
- you need to enter the account email address and password again the next time you use that app.
After resetting the password
The website and desktop apps may ask you to sign in again after an account password reset. Complete the steps in this order:
- Sign in to the website with the new password.
- Sign in to Scribe again.
- Sign in to Scroll again.
- Confirm the current plan separately in both apps.
Troubleshoot sign-in or plan display
| What you see | What to check |
|---|---|
| Incorrect email address or password | Sign in on the website first; use Forgot password if needed. |
| A Google account cannot sign in to a desktop app | Set a password in Account Settings. |
| A security check is required | Complete it in the browser, then retry in the same app. |
| Another device is already signed in | Save work on the first device before deciding whether to continue. |
| The app still shows Free after payment | Confirm the same email address is in use, then select Refresh subscription in Scribe or Refresh plan in Scroll. |
| Writing Suite appears in only one app | Sign in to the other app and refresh its plan. |
| Paid features become unavailable offline | Reconnect and refresh the plan in that app. |
| The account is awaiting deletion | Withdraw the deletion request in Account Settings on the website first. |
If the problem remains, see Account help or contact support. Include the product, app version, operating system, complete message, and the plan shown in Account. Never send a password, verification code, or payment card details.
